Summary of Job Duties:

The program associate will assist in the cowpea and rice biotechnology projects focusing on developing the protocols for regeneration and genetic transformations. The primary duties of the program associate will be to carryout rice transformations using agrobacterium, assist in cowpea transformation protocols, and analyze transgenic plants using molecular and imaging approaches. The program associate will also work in other related projects under development and provide technical guidance to graduate students on plant transformation aspects of their projects.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualification of M.S. and preferred qualification of Ph.D. in plant biotechnology or related area.  Extensive experience in plant tissue culture transformation, especially with cereals and legume crops, is preferred. The applicant must be proficient in written and oral English, must communicate effectively, and work cooperatively with other members of the laboratory.
