Description
The Director, National Accounts is a senior-level sales role responsible for actively selling Boston as a premier convention destination. This position is focused on generating business, not managing marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will be a proactive closer with a proven track record in sales, tasked with driving new and repeat convention business to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center.
This is a quota-carrying, client-facing sales position in a highly visible and competitive market. The ideal candidate will have a strategic approach to sales, the ability to independently prospect and close business, and deep knowledge of the meetings and conventions industry. Experience cultivating long-term relationships with key decision-makers in association, corporate, and trade show markets is essential.
Reporting to the Vice President of Citywide Convention Sales, the Director will play a vital role in securing large-scale citywide events that generate economic impact for Boston and elevate the city’s national and international reputation as a meetings destination.
The Boston Convention Marketing Center (BCMC)—a partnership between Meet Boston and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority—is responsible for marketing and selling the BCEC, the Hynes, and The Lawn On D.
This position is 100% sales-focused and not a marketing role. While the specific territory is to be determined, familiarity with the Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland and Northeast convention markets is highly desirable.
This position is based in Boston; remote work is not available.
Responsibilities
· Identify and qualify association, corporate and trade show events for Boston that can utilize the Hynes or BCEC
· Work with hotel relations department to prepare leads to present to the hotel community using our online application, LeadLink
· Manage and maintain detailed account profiles in Momentus customer database system and client contact data in HubSpot
· Prepare and implement account acquisition action plans
· Complete sales reports in a timely manner
· Prepare and conduct sales presentations
· Conduct site inspections
· Prepare sales proposals via various software tools including PandaDoc, HubSpot, and Microsoft 365 products
· Develop and enhance relationships with internal and external customers and industry partners
· Attend industry and other networking events to provide maximum exposure for Boston
· Meet all assigned sales quotas for prospecting, outside calls and definite business by managing time and territory effectively
Requirements
· College graduate with a minimum of five years of related industry sales experience and a proven track record of success.
· Must be a self-motivated team player, organized and professional
· Must be competitive with a ‘winning’ attitude.
· Must be a strategic thinker
· Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required
· Must have the ability to build productive business relationships
· Knowledge of Boston is beneficial
