Switchboard is looking for a full-stack finance and accounting professional to serve as Finance and Business Operations Manager for a Series A funded startup client in San Francisco. In this high-impact role, you’ll be responsible for everything money-related, from managing books and accounting processes to forecasting, financial modeling, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Reporting to the SVP of Operations, this is a foundational hire. You’ll work closely with leadership to ensure financial health and operational efficiency while setting up the systems, reporting, and controls that will scale with the business.
This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves working across functions, and has both accounting fundamentals and strategic finance chops.
What You'll Do
Accounting & Financial Operations
Own the monthly and quarterly close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure all transactions are recorded in a timely and compliant manner
Manage bookkeeping and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, bill.com, Rippling etc.)
Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and expense tracking
Prepare financial statements and internal reports
Strategic Finance & Planning
Build and maintain robust financial models to support forecasting, cash runway analysis, and scenario planning
Lead annual budget development and rolling forecasts
Analyze business performance and deliver insights to leadership
Support fundraising, investor relations, and board reporting with financial data and storytelling
Business Operations
Identify and implement process improvements across finance and ops
Partner cross-functionally with product, sales, and marketing to support decision-making
Ensure regulatory compliance and assist with tax filings in coordination with external partners
Develop and maintain dashboards tracking company efficiency
Experience We're Looking For
5+ years of experience in accounting, FP&A, or finance roles
Proficiency in accounting principles (GAAP) and experience managing books and close processes
Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel/Google Sheets capabilities
Hands-on experience with accounting and finance tools
Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders
Comfortable working independently and owning end-to-end processes
Experience in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
CPA is a plus but not required
Passion for health, wellness, or nutrition is required
