The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Resource Center Specialist to manage and support the Resource Center operations within a prison complex.

Job Duties:

- Provides and facilitates mandated legal and paralegal access services to the resident population in a timely manner

- Oversees the circulation of recreational reading materials

- Provides access to materials useful for reentry

- Trains and oversees a resident workforce in carrying out a variety of Resource Center functions

- Assists in ordering Resource Center materials

- Reviews Resource Center materials to ensure they meet Publication review standards

- Catalogs and processes Resource Center materials

- Promotes Resource Center to support ADCRR’s goals

- Attends meetings and trainings

- Prepares reports and memos

- Drives on State business

- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

- Library laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

- Professional and modern library tools, principles and practices

- Modern library original and copy cataloging standards

- Computers and various software programs (Microsoft Office, Google, and library automation)

- Operation of standard office equipment, including scanners, copiers, and printers

- Principles and practices of inmate management and supervision


Skill in:

- Verbal and written communication

- Organizational and time management

- Conflict resolution techniques

- Motivation and leadership

- Customer service

- Decision making


Ability to:

- Work in a correctional environment

- Possess professional knowledge of all aspects of library principles, concepts, methodologies, and management techniques and apply them in a correctional Resource Center

- Establish and maintain effective work relationships

- Learn and adhere to department policies and procedures

- Perform all required tasks in a timely manner

Selective Preference(s):

- Secure Care experience

- An associate degree or higher in Library Sciences or a related field

- State service and experience providing assistance to customers

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test.


If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).


In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
