Sorcerer is deploying a global network of persistent airborne sensors to fuel weather forecasting. Our high-altitude balloons collect 1000x more data than existing systems and are already used daily by meteorologists to track extreme weather across the US and Central America.

About the role

As a Hardware Design Electrical Engineer at Sorcerer you’ll be expected to rapidly prototype and refine our atmospheric sensing systems. You’ll own projects through design, ground-testing, manufacture and flight-testing.

This role is critical within our small team of engineers. You’ll work closely with our CTO and Lead Hardware Engineer building one-of-a-kind sensor hardware. If this sort of thing interests you we’d love to meet you!

Responsibilities

• Design and develop atmospheric sensing hardware (temperature, pressure, humidity, etc.)

• End-to-end ownership of your projects from idea through testing and manufacture

• Interface closely with outside design partners (limited international travel required)

• Support flight-testing campaigns, debugging technical issues in real-time

Required Experience

• 6+ years of experience designing sensing hardware in industry

• Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, LTSpice)

• Experience developing manufacturing/test equipment for sensors

Ideal Candidates

• Have worked with radiosondes or other atmospheric/weather sensing instruments

• Have experience designing for space or high-altitude systems

• Succeed with a high level of autonomy

• Aren’t afraid of scrappy, unconventional problem solving

Location

• This is an in-office role at our HQ in SOMA, San Francisco. For exceptional candidates we may consider remote work
