Postdoctoral Research Scholar 0-5 yrs Experience

Overview

The starting salary range for this position is $5,720 per month depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

 

Under supervision of an SDSU Faculty member, this position is intended to provided mentored advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence in the Post Doc's academic discipline.

The C1-LAB team is looking for a highly motivated and exceptional postdoctoral fellow to join our core group of experienced scientists working on biotechnology projects that utilize methanotrophic bacteria as platform hosts. Candidates should have a strong foundation in microbiology, microbial genetics, computational biology, and bioinformatics, along with proven experience in these areas. Familiarity with techniques such as FACS and -omics tools (including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics) as well as metabolic engineering is desirable.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Developing and implementing bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, such as RNA-Seq and whole-genome sequencing for non-model microbial chassis.
  • Analyzing and interpreting large-scale biological datasets, including identifying genes, mutations, and other genomic features of interest.
  • Collaborating with junior researchers and providing training on how to translate wet-lab findings into actionable insights.
  • Preparing reports, manuscripts, and presentations that summarize research findings and recommendations.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest microbiological and computational tools and technologies.
  • Contributing to the development of a collaborative and innovative research environment.

Responsibilities

The PostDoc must be team-oriented and task-driven. Work independently, including be able to develop methodology and perform experiments with minimal supervision.  Must be able to gather data and analyze data for reporting and publications.

 

Core Responsibilities 80%

Must be able to perform project-related technical tasks in one of the following areas:

  • Plant microbiome studies
  • Metagenomic and other omics based biological systems interrogation
  • Optimization of field studies and preparations of microbial supplements.

Position Specific Responsibilities 20%

Work independently on the following:

  • Experiment design and performance
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Writing up research results for monthly and quarterly reports

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience

  • A doctoral degree in an appropriate field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in cell and Molecular Biology or a related field.
  • Experience and a strong foundation in plant-microbiome studies and bioinformatics.
  • Experience in NGS data analysis and interpretation.
