SALARY: $75.00-$90.00/Hour

POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist functions as a member of the staff team, providing sedation services to those patients who qualify in accordance with RHS of PPGR protocols, and procedures according to the RHS of PPGR Medical Standards and Guidelines and under the direction of the Program Director of Analgesia and Sedation. May include evenings and weekends. May require travel. This position may fulfill the cell phone reimbursement policy requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED
• Understand, commit to, and practice a market and customer-oriented approach to health care delivery.
• Provide comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessment to all relevant patients consistent with the intended procedure.
• Participate in the counting and logging of all controlled substances consistent with RHS of PPGR Scheduled Drugs Policy.
• Prepare drugs for administration at the beginning of each clinic session.
• Ensure that all syringes are properly labeled and that all vials are properly stored throughout the day.
• Ensure that each procedure room is stocked with necessary sedation-related supplies at the beginning of each day.
• Place or supervise the placement of intravenous catheters for patients who desire sedation services.
• Provide Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) in accordance with RHS of PPGR’s Medical Standards and Guidelines.
• Take personal responsibility to remain informed, current, and willing to follow medical policies of the RHS of PPGR Medical Standards and Guidelines concerning sedation as well as all other relevant protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Work together with the provider of the day to provide post-anesthesia care.
• Respond to needs of the clinical team as requested by the CMO, Medical Director or the Regional Director of Health Care Operations including, but not limited to: Maintaining medical records, Maintaining an efficient and clean medical facility
• Participate in staff training as needed, and provide regular feedback to the Program Director of Analgesia and Sedation.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous work experience in the provision of sedation in an outpatient clinical setting is preferred.
• Commitment to the efficient and customer-oriented provision of services, as well as commitment to the operating goals of RHS of PPGR.
• Willingness to participate in a team approach to health care delivery.
• Bilingual skills are a plus, particularly Spanish and/or Bosnian
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Maintains current licensures as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse in the state of Illinois. Has completed additional training and holds current certification to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of Illinois. Ensure licensures and certifications remain active and are renewed when due as a condition of employment.
• Must have active BLS and ACLS certification at all times throughout employment
RISK MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
• Documents in legible, accurate English all interactions with clients in corresponding medical records.
• Reports any unusual circumstances to the health center coordinator and follows procedure as outlined in manual, memos, and other PPGR documents.
• Records accurately, if assigned, all lab results and findings in logbooks and/or computer.
• Follows the most recent PPFA/PPGR/RHS medical standards and guidelines and ensures the client is aware of individual follow-up plan for medical service.
Audits medical records for compliance with PPFA and PPGR/RHS medical standards and guidelines.
• Cognizant and compliant with policies and procedures as outlined in the PPGR Medical Policy and Procedure Manual and in the PPFA manuals
• Protects PPGR/RHS and its assets from liability. Protects the confidentiality of PPGR/RHS clients, staff, volunteers, donors, Board, and all other areas of operation.

Depending on the type of induced abortion care being provided, physicians will need excellent manual dexterity in both hands with sufficient strength and endurance to care for up to 30 patients in a single day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
