Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for a driven, innovative Java Developer to join our team of qualified and diverse professionals. The ideal candidate will help us build the next generation of customer engagement and credentialing systems for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Location: Hybrid role– On-site in Columbia, MD.

• Must be able to work on-site 3 days per week (Tuesday – Thursday).
• Candidate must have the ability to report up to 5 days per week as needed.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

• Designing and building powerful, secure web and backend systems for credentialing and case management.
• Working with Java/Spring-based REST APIs and modern web frameworks in a continuous integration environment.
• Collaborating with users and stakeholders to define and deliver efficient, scalable software solutions.
• Enhancing functionality by integrating open-source tools and modern UI technologies.
• Performing clean, testable code development with an eye for refactoring and optimization.
• Writing clear, concise technical documentation and contributing to the continuous improvement of our platforms.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or Associate’s degree and 4+ years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 6+ years experience.
• US Citizenship required (no dual citizenship).
• Must have an Active Secret clearance to be considered.
• Requires Java development experience to build enterprise applications.
• Experience with using Java development tools (e.g. Eclipse, JUnit, Git).
• Recent experience developing and implementing software solutions using one or more of the following:
  • AngularJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap and Java.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience in a large scale Federal IT Program.
• Experience with SAFe Agile delivery framework.

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
