Staff Engineer, Frontend Development

The Role We Need:

PadSplit is growing fast, and we are looking for a Staff Engineer who specializes in Frontend development to lead the creation of scalable, user-friendly interfaces that streamline member and host experiences. As we grow, this role will ensure our digital platform remains intuitive, accessible, and aligned with our mission to transform affordable housing.

The Person We Are Looking For:

We’re seeking a leader with deep expertise in modern Frontend frameworks like React, coupled with a strong design sensibility that bridges functionality and aesthetics. This individual should excel in mentoring team members, architecting complex systems, and collaborating across departments to translate business needs into seamless user interfaces. Above all, you should be passionate about using technology to make a meaningful social impact and thrive in a fast growth, mission-driven environment.

Here Is What You’ll Be Doing Day-To-Day:
  • Technical Leadership: Lead architectural decisions and set coding standards for the frontend team.
  • Code Development: Write and review high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers and designers to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Support engineers by providing guidance, code reviews, and learning opportunities.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the user interface.
  • System Design: Architect and implement solutions for complex technical challenges in the frontend ecosystem.
  • Tooling and Automation: Create and improve development tools to streamline workflows and deployments.
  • User Experience Focus: Ensure the delivery of intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing interfaces.

Here is what You’ll Need To Be Successful:
  • Deep Frontend Expertise: Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies.
  • Strong Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges effectively.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
  • UX and Accessibility Focus: A strong eye for design and commitment to building inclusive experiences.
  • Performance Optimization Skills: Knowledge of optimizing applications for speed and efficiency.
  • Communication Excellence: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to various stakeholders.
  • Agile Methodology Proficiency: Experience working in high-growth, iterative development environments.
  • Mission-Driven Passion: Genuine interest in leveraging technology to drive social impact.
  • Team Player Mindset: Collaborative attitude, fostering teamwork and positive relationships across teams.
  • Adaptability and Curiosity: Openness to learning new technologies and adjusting to changing priorities.

The Interview Process:
  • Your application will be reviewed for possible next steps by the Hiring Manager.
  • If you meet eligibility requirements, the next step would be a phone call with a member of the PeopleOps team for about thirty (30) minutes.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video interview with our VP of Engineering for forty-five (45) minutes.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video panel interview with key stakeholders at PadSplit for one-and-a-half (1.5) hour.
  • The panel interview will require a candidate to work on a technical assessment where you will showcase your engineering skills to the panel for discussion.
  • If warranted, the final step would be a video interview with our CTO for thirty (30) minutes.
  • If warranted, then we move to offer!

  • Fully remote position - we swear!
  • Competitive compensation package including an equity incentive plan
  • National medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans
  • Company provided life insurance policy
  • Optional accidental insurances, FSA, and DCFSA benefits
