Scope of Position
The Emergency General Surgery Program Manager (EGSPM) is responsible for quality performance, process improvement, accreditation, department budget, patient navigation through the health system, and community and external hospital relationships for the Emergency General Surgery Program at University Hospital. The EGSPM will provide leadership and collaborative efforts for the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pathways, clinical procedures, guidelines, and protocols in an integrated health system-wide approach. The EGSPM collaborates with multidisciplinary groups including physician groups, nursing, nursing leadership, nursing education, and administrative leadership to facilitate/support emergency general surgery care throughout the health system. EGSPM participates in community outreach through partnerships with community hospitals, physicians, and service groups. This position has a matrix reporting structure to the Emergency General Surgery Medical Director and the Service Line Administrator.
Position Summary
The position supports the Emergency General Surgery Program leadership including Emergency General Surgery Program Medical Directors and the Service Line Administrator. The EGSPM will provide direction to the EGS Program to ensure quality, timeliness, and effective care through the continuum of care within the Health System. This position will be instrumental in outreach activities, marketing/communications, and coordinating the activities of the interdisciplinary care team. This position will facilitate the development of an integrated care model for emergency general surgery patients from ED to outpatient services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or related field (social work, respiratory therapy, etc.) master’s degree preferred. Experience in Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, Critical Care, and Emergency Services (ED). Experience with Surgery Program leadership is desirable. Experience in performance improvement is required.
