Business Strategist

Ossium’s mission is to improve the health, vitality, and longevity of human beings through bioengineering. We develop, manufacture, and bank cell therapy products that apply the power of stem cell science to revolutionize treatment for patients with blood, immune, and orthopedic diseases.  At Ossium, we empower our employees, maintain the highest standards of operational excellence, and are a force for good.

About the Job

We’re looking for a motivated, high achieving, and versatile individual who will play an essential role in a broad range of activities necessary to drive and execute critical operational and strategic aspects of our growing company. You’ll get an unparalleled view into the inner workings of Ossium as you help develop go-to-market strategies, own products’ financial models, develop materials based on market research and product strategy, and assist on various projects across many of Ossium’s verticals. The Business Strategist will be responsible for helping us tell the story of Ossium – both internally and externally – through metrics, decks, one pagers, and other materials.

You’ll have the opportunity to project manage essential external clinical and business partnerships and work closely with many members of Ossium’s leadership team as we continue to scale. The Business Strategist will be exposed to many of the highest-priority workstreams and projects at Ossium—to be successful in this role, you must realize that no task is too small; ego and deadlines are the only enemies here. You will report directly to the CEO.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in life science, bioengineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in management consulting, business development, investment banking, or data & analytics, preferably in a life science and/or healthcare-related company or practice
  • Strong sense of ownership and excellent project management skills, with hands-on experience managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Robust problem-solving skills and the ability to apply logical frameworks and data-driven insights to ambiguous situations
  • Comfortable operating both at the board level and at the administrative and tactical levels, handling whatever is required to support the CEO and the broader Ossium agenda
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including making and delivering dynamic presentations in PowerPoint, synthesizing findings, and drafting external communications and internal reports
  • Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to value market opportunities, navigate financial models, and analyze and interpret statistical data; strong Excel skills
  • Capable of operating with a high level of organization and excellent time management in a startup environment
  • Must show rigorous attention to detail in work product
  • This position is based in our San Francisco office; we maintain a hybrid schedule of Monday - Thursday in the office, with Friday as a remote work day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a high-growth startup
  • A familiarity with the drug development and commercialization landscape
  • Interest in trends, advancements, and news in the biotech and pharmaceutical space

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Ossium’s internal consultant, working cross-functionally with members of the Ossium leadership team on key business projects
  • Act as a link with executive leaders to acquire and formulate the information and data necessary to develop content for the Board of Directors meetings
  • Oversee and assist with various internal operations and activities, such as taking notes for leadership meetings, developing content for All Hands programming, and helping to design bi-annual leadership retreats
  • Create, track, and report on KPIs across the company
  • Develop a keen understanding of product-market fit for multiple product lines through data analysis and market research and clearly communicate findings to executive team
  • Work at the intersection of product, data analysis, and marketing to ensure Ossium understands business opportunities and new products reach the correct audience
  • Provide up-to-date assessments of the broader biotech competitive landscape and keep the organization apprised of the latest developments and their potential impact to Ossium
  • Produce materials that contribute to the development of the company’s brand and image
  • Drive progress and own project management for critical clinical and business partnerships
  • Support the timely execution and rapid growth of Ossium’s operations and business development through taking on a broad range of logistical, administrative, research, partnership, or other assignments as requested by the CEO

In your first six months some projects you’ll work on include:
