With an emphasis on brand journalism, the Public Relations Representative will be responsible for telling the great stories of Team O’Reilly via social media, the corporate website, and news releases. This role will shape the brand narrative, cultivate media relationships, grow social communities, drive engagement across social platforms, and help attract great talent to Team O’Reilly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Write compelling stories about Team O’Reilly – our people, products, and exceptional customer service – for publication on our corporate website, in news releases, and on social media.
Develop and implement PR strategies to increase brand visibility and positive media coverage.
Prepares and distributes fact sheets, news releases, memos and other content through a variety of media outlets.
Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets.
Assist in managing crisis communications and serve as a point of contact for media-related matters.
Plan, create, and schedule social media content across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X).
Provides analysis and recommendations on social media strategies that align with organizational initiatives and goals.
Monitor trends, track metrics, and adjust strategies to optimize reach and engagement.
Oversee social media community management and customer engagement.
Collaborate with teams across O’Reilly to enhance external communications.
Performs work with a high degree of latitude.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related field
1–3 years of experience in media or public relations
Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
Understanding of social media trends, and willingness to keep up on new innovations
Creative mindset with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Basic video editing and/or graphic design skills
