Senior Technical Lead - Streaming

The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Technical Lead to architect and oversee the complete streaming infrastructure for our new XR sports and entertainment engagement product. This role focuses on managing the overall streaming architecture, coordinating cross functional development pods, and serving as the technical liaison with clients and partners. You'll be responsible for the strategic direction of our server platform, ensuring seamless integration between backend streaming services, video delivery systems, and XR frontend applications.

This is a live, fan-facing product, not content delivery. You'll lead the technical vision for real-time streaming performance, coordinate between specialized development teams, and manage client relationships around infrastructure requirements and security protocols. Working directly with the Head of Technology, you'll establish the technical roadmap from MVP through launch and live operations while maintaining the strategic temperament of the entire streaming development pod.

What You'll Do:

• Design and oversee the complete streaming architecture including the Nexus server platform and coordination between all streaming components
• Establish and maintain coordination cadence between development pods, ensuring alignment on technical decisions and implementation strategies
• Work closely with the Head of Technology to align streaming infrastructure with overall product vision and business objectives
• Manage client communications about infrastructure needs, technical capabilities, security requirements, and performance expectations
• Lead data provider integrations, managing vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with partner technical specifications
• Maintain overall technical temperament and strategic direction of the streaming development pod
• Support Technical Writer in creating comprehensive systems architecture diagrams and technical documentation
• Define technical standards, code review processes, and best practices across streaming infrastructure teams
• Oversee integration between Rust backend services, video streaming systems, and XR frontend applications
• Lead technical decision making on scalability, performance optimization, and system reliability strategies
  

What You Will Bring:

• 10+ years of systems engineering experience, including 4+ years in Senior Technical Lead positions with distributed streaming architectures
• Expert-level knowledge of streaming infrastructure, including real-time data streaming, video delivery systems, and CDN optimization
• Strong technical leadership experience managing cross-functional development teams and coordinating complex technical projects
• Excellent client-facing skills with proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with real-time technology ecosystems, including live event streaming, broadcast integration, and fan engagement platforms
• Strategic thinking capabilities combined with hands-on technical expertise in streaming architecture design.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and cross-functional team coordination
• Proven track record of vendor management and external partner integrations in live entertainment contexts
• Experience building scalable systems that handle variable load patterns and peak event traffic.
• Understanding of security requirements, compliance protocols, and enterprise-level infrastructure management
• Are excited by the challenge of building for live, high-emotion moments and leading teams under pressure

Preferred Experience:

• AWS experience with enterprise level streaming services, networking, and security configurations
• Background in XR/VR platform development with understanding of low latency streaming constraints for immersive experiences
• Experience with data provider partnerships, broadcast standards, and live event technology requirements
• Knowledge of Rust ecosystem, gRPC services, and high performance streaming protocols
• Previous experience managing technical relationships with major entertainment brands or sports organizations
• Understanding of observability, monitoring, and operational excellence in live streaming environments
• A passion for live storytelling, sports and entertainment, and what immersive platforms can unlock for fandom

This is a Nexus led role focused on technical leadership and strategic streaming architecture, working within a highly collaborative, partner facing development environment. You'll help define not just what we build, but how we architect it, shaping our streaming infrastructure, team coordination strategies, and the evolution of a platform with global reach.
