Job Description
Title: Robotics Engineer Intern, Deployment and Test
Location: Austin, Texas (with travel up to 33% of workdays)

Contoro Robotics is an Austin-based robotics startup focused on delivering advanced robotic solutions—ranging from telemanipulation and haptic feedback to state-of-the-art human interfaces—that address labor shortages in industrial settings. Contoro’s robot can enter a trailer and can autonomously offload cases of product and we are currently deploying to customer warehouses domestically, with focus on Southern California. Our groundbreaking human-in-the-loop approach leverages AI-assisted robotic arms guided by human intuition. Position Overview:
As a Robotics Deployment Engineer Intern, you’ll support our Deployment Engineers and Test Team in ensuring our robotic solutions are installed, maintained, and continually improved. When on-site at customer warehouses, you’ll help with deployments, training, and troubleshooting. While based at our Austin office, you’ll collaborate with our Test Team to rigorously evaluate system performance, identify issues, and contribute to the enhancement of our cutting-edge robotic systems. This role provides a comprehensive learning experience, combining hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and structured testing.
Job Responsibility
On-Site Deployments at non-Austin locations (up to 33% of workdays):
Assist Deployment Engineers in preparing, installing, and optimizing robotic systems at customer sites.
Help train customers to operate the systems effectively and safely.
Participate in troubleshooting activities and perform basic hardware/software adjustments.
Communicate customer feedback and insights to the Contoro team for continuous improvement.
In-Office Testing (Austin Headquarters or at Texas customer sites):
Work closely with the Test Team to perform various tests on robotic hardware and software.
Contribute to system evaluations to validate new features, ensure quality, and improve reliability.
Assist in debugging issues identified during tests and help document the findings for the engineering team.
Help maintain test records, procedures, and documentation for continuous improvement.
Customer & Internal Communication:
Engage professionally with customers and team members to understand needs, constraints, and challenges.
Provide feedback and insights gathered during deployments and testing to cross-functional teams.
Help maintain comprehensive documentation and reporting that guide product refinement.
Adapt & Grow:
A major goal of this internship is to understand the skill set of the intern and extend an offer for a full-time position.

Qualification/Requirements
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Science programs.
Enjoy traveling domestically.
Enjoy communicating with customers and has had experience in a customer facing role.
Has analytical thinking process.
Willing to work on hands-on tasks.
Willing to learn the technology and business and grow with the company.
Comfortable driving large vehicles.
