Join our Global Functions FP&A team to support the Global Legal function as a Principal Financial Analyst. Based on site at OHQ in Fridley, MN (4 days/week), you will manage a $350M+ expense budget, leveraging your FP&A expertise to drive strategic financial planning and operational excellence.
In this role, you will partner closely with the Legal leadership team and Global Functions Finance team to ensure the financial and business goals of Medtronic’s Legal function are achieved. From cost center management to annual planning and beyond, this is an opportunity to fully utilize and expand your financial skills while making a meaningful impact.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Analysis
Lead financial modeling, forecasting, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and scenario planning to meet deadlines and achieve targets.
Manage month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support cost center managers with standard and ad hoc reporting needs.
Oversee project set-up, maintenance, and structure management.
Track and forecast litigation impact on Medtronic's free cash flow in partnership with Corporate Controllership.
Budgeting & Planning
Load and reconcile data in the global planning system, ensuring alignment with organizational targets.
Provide insights into year-over-year organizational changes to guide leadership investments.
Reporting & Presentations
Prepare, deliver, and present monthly financial results to Global Functions and Legal Management.
Develop ad hoc reports and financial presentations to support management decision-making.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Maintain, troubleshoot, and develop new finance processes and reports as needed.
Collaborate across teams, take on additional projects, and provide coaching to junior team members.
Compliance & Best Practices
Ensure adherence to Medtronic’s accounting policies and GAAP standards.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting (or Advanced Degree with 5+ years).
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MBA.
Experience in FP&A
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience with OneStream, GFS, Essbase, and/or SAP.
Accounting experience with knowledge of GAAP.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify trends, drivers, and translate financial data into actionable insights.
Experience working in a matrixed environment and collaborating across levels and functions.
Proven ability to develop solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with an interest in building business partnerships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
