Geopolitical Risk Analyst

About Mach Industries

Founded in 2022, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 120 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.

Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.

The Role

As a Geopolitical Risk Analyst, you will serve as the analytical backbone of Mach’s global outreach efforts, preparing the company for key engagements in regions of strategic interest. You will lead the development of country-specific intelligence briefs, conduct due diligence on stakeholders, and deliver tailored risk assessments to guide leadership decisions across operational, diplomatic, and commercial domains.

This role requires a proactive mindset, sound geopolitical judgment, and the ability to synthesize open-source and classified material into clear, actionable insight. Your work will directly shape how and where Mach executes missions, allocates resources, and navigates sensitive environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct forward-looking analysis of countries and regions ahead of travel or operational engagement, with a focus on security, political, economic, and legal conditions.

  • Produce concise, decision-grade briefing materials for internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, operations, and legal.

  • Gather intelligence on individuals, organizations, and government entities with whom Mach is scheduled to engage, assessing their backgrounds, affiliations, and potential opportunities or threats.

  • Develop structured risk assessments for prospective projects, partnerships, and deployments, flagging concerns ranging from corruption and compliance to reputational and physical risk.

  • Collaborate with legal, operations, and government affairs teams to ensure travel and field activities align with Mach’s security posture and U.S. regulatory constraints.

  • Maintain a rolling library of geopolitical updates, travel advisories, and incident tracking across regions of interest to inform Mach’s global planning.

  • Participate in tabletop exercises, red teaming, and scenario planning to stress-test assumptions and operational plans.

  • Assist in shaping internal playbooks and contingency frameworks for high-risk or emerging-market engagements.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in intelligence analysis, field operations planning, international security, or geopolitical risk consulting.

  • Proven ability to write clear, structured assessments under time pressure for executive audiences.

  • Strong knowledge of global affairs, conflict zones, and international regulatory environments.

  • Experience preparing high-quality research using both open-source intelligence (OSINT) and official/secure channels.

  • Proficiency in structuring deliverables such as country risk assessments, stakeholder profiles, and operational readiness briefs.

  • Demonstrated discretion and experience handling sensitive material.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in defense, intelligence, or foreign service with experience supporting field deployments.

  • Familiarity with U.S. and allied security cooperation programs and interagency coordination processes.

  • Working knowledge of export control, sanctions regimes, and international legal frameworks that shape field operations.

  • Experience operating in or analyzing regions such as the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, or Eastern Europe.

  • Foreign language proficiency.

  • Ability to travel internationally up to 50%, occasionally on short notice.
