Senior People Operations Manager

Company overview

LucidLink is a fast-growing startup on a mission to make data instantly and securely accessible from everywhere. As remote and hybrid work has become the new normal, our cloud-based technology enables teams to instantly access files and collaborate from anywhere in a familiar format that works like a local hard drive.

LucidLink’s solution is designed for workflows involving huge files, massive data sets and real-time collaboration. Our customers include the world’s most creative companies like Paramount, Warner Brothers, Epic Games, Spotify, A+E and Netflix. We were founded in 2016 by storage industry experts and support over one billion customer files across more than 40+ countries. LucidLink is headquartered in San Francisco, California, has an engineering office in Sofia, Bulgaria, and remote employees across North America, Europe, and Australia.

Reasons to join LucidLink:

  • Tackle big challenges: You’ll have the chance to solve complex, high-stakes problems that redefine how teams collaborate globally. By starting with the Media & Entertainment industry and expanding into data-intensive sectors, you’ll gain deep insight into cutting-edge technologies and play a role in shaping the future of global workflows.

  • Values-led culture: Our values don’t just exist on paper—they guide every decision and interaction. You’ll thrive in an environment where integrity, innovation, and empathy are at the core of how we operate, empowering you to grow personally and professionally.

  • Hypergrowth journey: Joining a company with triple-digit growth rates means unparalleled opportunities for advancement, learning, and being part of an exciting journey toward unicorn status. You’ll experience the adrenaline of startup speed combined with the satisfaction of building something truly impactful.

  • Immediate impact: At LucidLink, your work will matter—immediately. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team of 170+ builders working at startup speed, where your ideas and actions will create tangible, exponential results that contribute to our collective success.

  • Comprehensive benefits: We believe in investing in our people. With unlimited PTO, a competitive salary, stock options, and full health coverage, you’ll feel supported both professionally and personally while enjoying a strong work-life balance.

Role Overview

LucidLink is growing rapidly — it’d be fair to say that we are no longer a “startup” but a “scaleup”. Our team now numbers 225 FTE across (primarily) 4 countries, and we are seeking a Senior People Operations Manager, reporting to our VP of People & Culture. This critical role will be the architect and operator of our People infrastructure, building and tending it so that our employees can thrive.

While we are a remote-first organization, due to time zone differences and our global, distributed team, we’re looking for someone located in the US Eastern Time zone.

Mission

The Senior People Operations Manager will strategically design, implement, and optimize scalable systems and processes that support our global workforce, enhance the employee experience, and ensure compliance across all operating regions. We're looking for someone who is excited by a challenge and patient with change. You will be instrumental in transforming our current foundational approach into a robust and efficient operational backbone for our People & Culture team.

Objectives

In your first ~6 months, you’ll mostly be “boots on the ground” — learning, taking ownership, doing, and optimizing. However, simultaneously and longer-term, this role also has a critical strategic component to it: improving, planning ahead, and future-proofing.

  • Design Programs and Processes that Elevate the Employee Experience:. You’ll own and smoothly operate various processes, which could include: onboarding and offboarding operations; immigration and mobility; employee HR inquiries; benefits renewals; HRIS administration. You’ll also look to increase self-service adoption through a ticketing system.

  • Bring Operational Efficiency: You’ll reduce manual effort by selecting and implementing new stage-appropriate (and future-proof) tools in our People tech stack (e.g., HRIS, payroll system, performance system, comp tools, employee records platform, AI capabilities…)

  • Own the Admin: In concert with Finance, BizOps, and Legal, you’ll oversee global payroll; renew contracts timely; manage benefits; ensure comp ranges are up to snuff; and more.

  • Ensure Global Compliance: You’ll oversee our adherence to applicable labor laws and regulations across our working locations, identifying and closing gaps in compliance.

  • Base our Work in Good Systems and Sound Insights: You’ll reduce discrepancies, data aggregation time, and manual reporting by ensuring our data is accurate; facilitating the seamless flow of that data where it needs to go; and improving our people analytics capabilities to provide insights that support business decision-making.

Competencies

Strategic Problem-Solver

  • Entrepreneurial Builder: Proven track record of designing and launching successful programs in a fast-paced environment. Able to identify challenges, analyze root causes, and proactively develop and implement smart, pragmatic solutions for a positive employee experience.

  • Data-Driven Decision Maker: Adept at using data to set goals, identify trends, measure success, and provide actionable insights. Excels at teasing out the story from the data.

  • Fearless AI Enthusiast: Neither into AI “for AI’s sake”, nor a skeptic. Explores and champions the technology for upleveling output, connecting dots, and working smarter.

  • Patient & Resilient Optimizer: Thrives on bringing order to chaos: either creating structure where none exists, or dismantling and reconstructing where needed. Can navigate the complexities of a dynamic environment, understanding that iterative improvements and consistent effort lead to long-term impact. Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Subject Matter Expert

  • International Experience: Strong working knowledge of People practices, employment laws, payroll intricacies, and benefits administration across multiple geographies — both US and UK experience preferred, but must have at least one; EU and Bulgaria experience a bonus.

  • People Technology Buff: Experience in selecting, negotiating with, implementing, optimizing, and managing third-party systems and vendors to support org effectiveness.

  • Compliance & Risk Management Expert: Proactively ensures we’re following applicable laws and regulations.

Strong Collaborator & Communicator

  • Influential Communicator: Excellent verbal, written, presentation skills. Can articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences, from employees to execs to vendors.

  • Cross-Functional Partner: Natural collaborator who maintains strong relationships and works well within People & Culture, across G&A (Finance, Legal, IT, Ops), and with partners.

  • Savvy Project Manager: Exceptionally organized with keen attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple complex projects. Defines clear objectives, timelines, and deliverables. Master at change management.

  • Action Oriented: Plunges into the work with gusto — this is a hands-on role. Balances planning and doing.
