Who We Are

Leen is building the data fabric for cybersecurity teams. Our platform helps security engineers, architects, and leaders make sense of fragmented security data—across tools like Wiz, Okta, CrowdStrike, AWS, and many more – through a unified API and powerful reporting layer.

We’re a small, fast-moving team backed by leading security investors including 11.2 Capital, Preface Ventures, Inner Loop Capital, and the CISOs of Datadog, Atlassian, and Chime.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a curious and driven Data Science Intern to help us build an AI-powered internal tool that accelerates how we integrate with third-party security products. You’ll work closely with our engineering team to understand vendor APIs, improve our normalized data models, and develop logic and metrics that streamline integration and product delivery.

This is not a traditional ML-heavy internship. Instead, you’ll help solve real-world data and product modeling challenges that sit at the intersection of data science, security, and systems design.

Key Responsibilities

• Map vendor schemas to Leen’s normalized models by analyzing vendor docs, JSON payloads and identifying common structures, inconsistencies, and edge cases
• Refine and propose improvements to our normalized schemas based on recurring vendor patterns or new categories of security data (e.g., DSPM, ITSM, SIEM, etc.)
• Develop logic to handle integration quirks (e.g., detecting when vulnerabilities are silently removed from source systems) and generalize these patterns into reusable rules
• Support the development of security metrics like mean-time-to-remediate, detection trends, and asset risk coverage, to power Leen’s reporting API

Contribute to the design of our internal schema mapping tool, including the UX, heuristics, and AI-based suggestions to support engineers with integration workflows

You’ll Excel in This Role If You Can:

• Enjoy working with semi-structured data (e.g. JSON) and making sense of messy data schemas
• Are comfortable with Python and SQL
• Are interested in security, data modeling, systems thinking, or all three
• Can structure your thinking clearly and communicate decisions well
• Like working independently but aren’t afraid to ask for help
• Want to see your work ship quickly and make an impact in a small, fast-moving team

Our Interview Process

1. Initial call with one of the founders: We use this call to learn more about you and your experiences and tell you more about Leen and our team.
2. Take home exercise
3. A live exercise is used to showcase parts of your data analytics skills and critical thinking abilities
4. A session to walk us through the thought process behind your exercise deliverable
5. Additional in-person Interviews: Behavioral interviews with other members of the Leen team to learn more about your working style and give you an opportunity to ask questions about Leen
