Software Engineer - Backend (Remote - US)

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product teams, and registered dietitians to develop robust APIs and data integrations that connect people to personalized nutrition services. This is a remote opportunity ideal for an experienced backend engineer with a passion for purpose, scalable systems, and performance optimization.

Accountabilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend systems that support core functionalities of web applications.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to develop robust and scalable APIs.
• Work closely with product managers to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement development best practices including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration.
• Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including server-side and database-level problems.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance backend capabilities.
• Support the ongoing improvement of infrastructure, system reliability, and team processes.

• 3+ years of backend development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.
• Proficiency with SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB; experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift) is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, SQS, RDS, and EC2.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications; Kubernetes experience is a bonus.
• Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with low-code platforms like Retool is a plus.
• Strong version control experience using Git.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance.

• Salary range: $120,000 – $155,000/year + equity
