As a Software Engineer II at Iterable, you'll complete smaller projects autonomously, with regular oversight on new problems or undefined projects. As a member of the Queueing and DBOps team you'll have the opportunity to direct how we support massive real-time traffic ensuring fairness and predictability for our customers.
You will prioritize activities with limited guidance while understanding how your tasks contribute to the team's project goals. You will proactively seek guidance from team members or managers when an answer is not known, form opinions while seeking input from a diverse group of team members, and learn to proactively anticipate small roadblocks to accomplishing tasks.
How you will make a difference:
- Build tools used by our other engineering teams to gracefully handle widely varying traffic patterns in queues
- Collaborate with a small and nimble engineering team
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Form opinions while seeking input from a diverse group of team members on how to solve a problem
We are looking for people who:
- 2+ years relevant software development experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and operating asynchronous systems
- Experience with queueing technology (Pulsar, RMQ, SQS, Kafka, etc)
- Experience with database schema design and query optimization (primarily in Postgres)
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (ideally Scala and/or Java)
- A passion for improving the developer experience
- Passion for learning and a team player
- Legally authorized to work in the US
Bonus Points
- Experience managing operations in datastores used in services
- Experience with platform engineering and Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform and Crossplane.
- Experience with Scala ZIO and reactive domain modeling
- Practical experience working with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
- Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tools.

The US base salary range for this position at the start of employment is $114,500 - $188,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined by specific US work location, as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and internal equity considerations.
Please note that the range listed above reflects only base salary. The total compensation package includes variable pay (where applicable), equity, plus a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and financial. In addition, we offer perks such as generous stipends for health & fitness and learning & development, among others.
