Reports To: Director of Childcare 

Position Type: Regular, Full-time, 40 hours per week 

FLSA Status: Exempt Salary: $50,960, Based on experience.

Position Description 

Goodman Community Center is seeking a Childcare Manager to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Childcare Program. This position will ensure all program initiatives, goals, and outcomes are met throughout the year. Additionally, this position will help ensure the Goodman Childcare programs comply with all WI State DCF regulations, maintain City of Madison accreditation standards, and assist with the compliance of all MMSD four-year-old kindergarten requirements. 

Requirements

  

Required Education & Experience 

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working in childcare setting with program planning, behavior management, environment design, and supervisory responsibilities. 
  • Required to pass the Childcare Provider background check. 
  • Education Qualifications (Must have one of the following): 
  • A baccalaureate or an associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education in early childhood care and education or a related field and specialized college-level coursework in administration, leadership, and management.
  • WI Registry qualification of Center Director and/or School Age Director. 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive a 15-passenger van with children as passengers. 
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of State Licensing Rules and Regulations, and City of Madison Accreditation Guidelines. 
  • Work with the Childcare Director and the program manager to ensure that programming follows all of Goodman’s program missions and goals.  
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin Common Core State Standards, Creative Curriculum, and Conscious Discipline. 
  • Experience working with staff and families from diverse backgrounds and experiences. 
  • Must have proficiency in office software including Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Ensure all programs meet Wisconsin DCF State Licensing standards.
  • Ensure all programs meet Madison City Accreditation standards.
  • Support and Monitor CLC programs and ensure all standards are upheld.  
  • Assist in supervising all teachers, floats, substitute teachers, interns, and volunteers. 
  • Assist Director in all summer and school year planning including scheduling, staffing, lesson/activity planning, and field trips.
  • Classroom coverage as necessary.  
  • Assist in supervising all teachers, floats, substitute teachers, interns, and volunteers. 
  • Monitor program curriculum to ensure weekly offerings are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and intentionally planned and implemented. 
  • Observe interactions with children and work with staff on positive language, effective behavior management, and problem solving with children. 
  • Continuous outreach, communication, and engagement to support families and staff, and respect confidentiality of all GCC families, volunteers, and staff 
  • Ensure both staff & families are aware of and understand policy manuals. 
  • Collaborate with the Director during interviews, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Participate in annual budget process and manage the approved program budget to ensure appropriate and allowable expenditures.
  • Assist Director in completing all reporting requirements. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

  

Required Knowledge & Skills 

  • Must meet all DCF licensing requirements including continuing education hours, mandated reporting, abusive head trauma, and CPR certifications.
  • Ability to provide strong, clear, and respectful communication with staff, peers and supervisor. 
  • Respect for confidentiality of participants, families, and staff. 
  • Model for positive behavior 
  • Open and receptive to feedback.
