Job Description:

Job Title: Sales Representative

Department: Sales

FLSA: Exempt

General Function:

Assist Hy-Vee stores with all aspects of sales including but not limited to, promotional marketing, merchandising, and category management within Lomar’s product lines. This specific position will have open routes to the following stores: Brookings, Harrisburg DF, Marshall, Sioux Falls #5, Sioux Falls #2, Sioux Falls #6, Sioux Falls #4, Watertown and Tea Dollar Fresh.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Senior Vice President Center Store and Merchandising

Positions that Report to you: AVP Business Development

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Makes weekly sales calls to retail stores.
  • Write and review merchandise orders.
  • Place new items into store sets.
  • Sell new items and seasonal merchandise to store personnel, including weekly ads and Food Shows.
  • Coordinate and merchandise Lomar product displays.
  • Assist with store personnel in resets of Lomar items.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends company and industry related meetings.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.

  • Ability to interact with basic computer systems including word processing, spreadsheet and email applications, as well as job-specific programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, email, OMS ordering system
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must have ability to solve practical problems, variety of variables with limited standardization
  • Must have ability to do math involving fractions, decimals and percentages

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum one-year retail grocery experience. 
  • Must have basic knowledge in the following categories:  natural and organic products, imported and domestic cheeses, specialty grocery and RPM. 

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct Reports):

None

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, normal depth perceptions
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work, standing or walking: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 100 pound
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions

Working Conditions:

This is a fast paced work environment normally conducted in an office and retail store setting.  There is constant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.  This position also requires travel with some overnight stays.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Personal computer with Outlook, Word, Excel, and OMS software, calculator, telephone, Fax machine, and copier.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with retail employees and management, suppliers/vendors and deals the general public.

Confidentiality:

Works with confidential information including sales reports, company promotions, pricing and advertisements.

Additional Requirements:

Valid Driver’s license with no restrictions.
