**Job Summary:**
The Accounting/Finance Controller will oversee all financial operations within the organization, providing strategic financial leadership and ensuring compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and best practices. This role is pivotal in managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, specifically tailored to the construction industry.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Financial Oversight:** Manage the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- **Budgeting & Forecasting:** Lead the budgeting process, working closely with project managers and the executive team to develop operating and capital budgets. Monitor performance against budgets and prepare forecasts as necessary.
- **Cost Management:** Analyze project costs and budgets, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure project profitability. Provide guidance on construction project margins and pricing strategies.
- **Financial Analysis:** Perform in-depth financial analysis and reporting to support project evaluations, investment decisions, and strategic planning. Assist in the preparation of financial models and scenario analysis.
- **Compliance & Audits:** Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and accounting standards specific to the construction industry. Liaise with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits.
- **Team Leadership:** Mentor and supervise finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high-performance standards.
- **Treasury Management:** Oversee cash management and ensure adequate cash flow to meet operational needs. Manage relationships with financial institutions and handle financing arrangements as required.
- **Process Improvement:** Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations and reporting.
**Qualifications:**
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA designation is preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices, including job costing, revenue recognition, and project management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, ERP and SAP, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
