Staff Technical Program Manager, System & Architecture, Data Collection
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Technical Innovation Center in Mountain View, CA three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the data collection vehicle strategy and execution for our Autonomous Driving Program. This role is instrumental in building the bridge between early system architecture and full-stack development, with a focus on delivering high-fidelity data to accelerate perception, planning, and operations software development.
In this highly cross-functional role, you’ll own the end-to-end lifecycle of data collection—from architecture decisions and vehicle build/bring-up, to field deployment, data labeling, and iteration—all while aligning with multiple technical and operational stakeholders. This is a unique opportunity to lead a foundational program within a fast-paced autonomy initiative at enterprise scale.
What You’ll Do
Own the roadmap and execution for data collection vehicles supporting the autonomy software stack.
Partner cross-functionally with system architects, hardware and software TPMs, perception leads, and operational teams to ensure program alignment.
Drive vehicle build and bring-up processes to support data collection requirements, including hardware/software integration and instrumentation.
Define and track KPIs, program metrics, and validation milestones to ensure data quality and timely delivery for ML development.
Coordinate data workflows: from raw capture, labeling, and ingestion, through iterative perception and system development cycles.
Proactively identify risks and blockers across hardware, software, and operations—and drive mitigation plans in real time.
Lead program reviews with technical and executive stakeholders and external partners.
Ensure field drivers, fleet operations, and infrastructure are aligned to meet daily collection targets and system iteration needs.
Travel at least 1x per quarter.
What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience working on robotaxi or autonomous vehicle programs.
Background in automotive, aerospace, defense, or other safety-critical, requirements-driven industries.
Prior experience scaling data collection infrastructure or operational support for perception teams.
Familiarity with SmartSheets, fleet ops tooling, and large-scale vehicle deployment workflows.
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
The salary range for this role is $143,000 to $258,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more.
Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
