Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer for our Vehicle Engineering Practice with a fundamental interest and knowledge base in systems modeling, prototyping and rapid technology development for our Phoenix, AZ Test and Engineering Center. In this role, you will work as part of a team and be responsible for system architecture modeling supporting prototyping and design exercises. You should be hands-on with the ability to support fieldwork and testing, have excellent communication skills, and be motivated to advance professionally and ultimately develop and grow their consulting practice within Exponent. A portion of the work may involve defense or other government clients.

You will be responsible for

• Model-Based Systems Engineering or large, complex systems and systems-of-systems
• Supporting development of prototype and field-ready devices
• Requirements specification, trade studies and failure mode effects and analysis
• Modeling of existent and prototype systems
• Design of specialized test and evaluation equipment
• Fieldwork including technology evaluation and technology insertion
• Preparing written technical reports and presenting findings to diverse audiences

You will have the following skills and qualifications

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred (M.S. required)
• P.E. license or the willingness to obtain a P.E. license
• One or more of:

• Advanced knowledge of model based systems engineering processes and tools
• Advanced knowledge of control architecture
• Experience with robotic and autonomous systems
• Experience with wireless and IP networks
• Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking

• Attention to detail and dedication to quality and accuracy
• Experience with CAD software, and analytical and simulation tools desired (SolidWorks preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Clear written communication and technical writing skills
• Possess strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize and present technical information
• Possess or the have ability to gain US DoD security clearance
• Presently legally authorized to work in the United States.  No immigration sponsorship or processing required. 
• This position may require occasional travel

Salary Range

USD $107,000.00 - USD $139,000.00 /Yr.
