Dewberry has an opportunity for an experienced Bridge Structures Engineer to serve as the Structures Department Manager within our transportation engineering business unit in Fairfax, Virginia. This position provides an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to lead a team of professionals located throughout Virginia and Maryland. The successful candidate will be managing a team of engineers designing new bridges, bridge replacements, and structural infrastructure projects using AASHTO LRFD Specifications. The selected person will be responsible for overseeing a department performing structural calculations, preparing design and contract documents (including reports, engineer’s estimates and construction specifications), reviewing shop drawings, scheduling bridge safety inspections, and providing technical support during construction. Typical clients include local, state, and federal agencies as well as private owners in the transportation market. The selected individual will significantly contribute to the business development of the department’s workload and the success of the business unit.

· Supervises a staff of over 15 engineers.
· Leading and/or supervising structural engineering staff during pursuit and delivery of transportation projects.
· Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of engineering documents and activities for multiple structural projects.
· Manages project and department budgets.
· Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable company policies and performance measures.
· Oversees and participates in personnel actions, hiring, and performance reviews.
· Assigns and oversees responsibilities for business development, proposal writing and fee development.
· Manages one or more clients.
· BS in Engineering with 20+ years of bridge engineering and project management
· MS Degree in Structural Engineering is desired
· Professional Engineer (PE) in VA required, PE in MD preferred
· Ability to obtain Professional Engineer licenses in other states as needed
· Experience as a Senior PM with VDOT and MDOT SHA
· Strong people skills
· Rail bridge design and highway bridge rehabilitation experience desirable
· Experience writing winning technical proposals and leading successful client interviews
· Proficiency using CADD
· Occasional travel (reimbursable) will be required
· Driving is a requirement of the position, and therefore a clean driving record is required
