Skills
- Experience with email threat analysis and phishing defense
- Familiarity with regular expressions for tracking malicious activity
- Proficiency in SQL including crafting queries
- Experience using YARA for detection development
- Knowledge of email authentication protocols such as SPF, DMARC, and DKIM
- Ability to analyze email headers
- Version control experience using Git
- Basic front-end or full-stack development skills preferred
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts and terminology
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK Framework and Lockheed Killchain
- Good knowledge of networking fundamentals including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS, and encryption
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder management
Responsibilities
- Analyze and track email-borne threats, including phishing attacks
- Submit Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) to data pipelines based on external reports
- Define automations and software requirements for support tooling
- Continuously evaluate threat data feeds and identify new data sources
- Research IoCs and network behavior patterns, labeling data accordingly
- Collaborate with data scientists to develop AI and machine learning security models
- Serve as subject matter expert for email threats and categorization data
- Define and implement metrics to measure product efficacy
- Plan projects to improve false positive and false negative detection rates
- Monitor and improve data quality, communicating issues and solutions
- Write internal and external communications including blog posts
- Coordinate with engineers to create defenses against observed exploits and tactics
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field preferred
