Senior Scientist/Engineer & Product Specialist needed by Celanese Corporation in Wilmington, DE to Design of new materials via polymer synthesis and compounding/processing (includes experimental planning, experiment oversight). Polymer and small molecule characterization via various analytical techniques (GPC, NMR, IR, TGA, DSC, DMA, tensile properties, rheology,etc.) Preparation of research reports and presentations. Project planning and preparation of progress updates. Communicate and coordinate with different teams across the business: marketing, application development, R&D, and product stewardship. Direct communication with customers. Set up new equipment and compiling safety-related paperwork. Update and set up of new materials and products in company databases. Coordinate and approve processes related to material qualifications and manufacturing, including material testing, setting new or adjusting material spec ranges, participation in the planning of production and process improvement. Determine possibilities for and consulting in product line efficiency, savings and productivity improvement. Identify potential cost saving opportunities and inform about supply risks and desired manufacturing footprint. Establish product specs and control plans to ensure product uniformity and regulatory compliance for product moves and ingredient changes or composition changes of commercial products. Review changes for product composition, process and asset moves through MOC (Management of Change) process and establishes equivalence guidelines. Utilize TGA, DSC, NMR spectroscopy, rheology, and DMA.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requires a PhD, or foreign equivalent degree in Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience in a related occupation utilizing TGA, DSC, NMR spectroscopy, rheology, and DMA.
