Manager, Operations Counsel

Who Boundless Is

We’re a team of immigrants and experts who have struggled with our own journeys through the complex, high-stakes U.S. immigration system. That is why we are building deeply customer-centric products and experiences to become the default trusted partner for all families and businesses. We are the largest player in the family immigration industry, and a high-growth challenger serving corporate clients. Across both consumer and business segments, we’ve aided over 100,000 individuals in their quest for U.S. residency.

We're backed by influential venture investors around the country, including Foundry Group (led by Brad Feld), Trilogy Equity Partners, Pioneer Square Labs, Emerson Collective (Laurene Powell Jobs’ foundation), Two Sigma Ventures, and Jerry Yang.

Today, we are a dynamic growth-stage technology company with 350+ employees across the U.S. and Philippines. We are growing both organically and through strategic acquisitions. We are well-capitalized and positioned for long-term success.

Your Mission

As Manager, Operations Counsel at Boundless, your primary mission is to lead, develop, and support a high-performing team of Operations Counsel attorneys working across both B2B and B2C matters. This role emphasizes people management and team effectiveness over individual technical expertise, with a focus on hands-on coaching, structured development, and clear, actionable feedback. You will empower attorneys to grow in their roles and consistently deliver high-quality, scalable support across a range of immigration cases.

By fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, you’ll help the team balance day-to-day execution with long-term development. At the same time, you’ll work cross-functionally with Legal Ops, Client Counsel, and other stakeholders to streamline workflows, proactively resolve operational challenges, and ensure timely, client-centered deliverables, contributing to a seamless experience for our customers and reinforcing Boundless’s reputation as a leader in immigration support.

What You Will Do

  • Team Leadership & Development: Provide day-to-day leadership and support to a team of Operations Counsel attorneys working across both B2B and B2C matters. Focus on coaching, goal-setting, and professional growth through regular check-ins, actionable feedback, and thoughtful performance reviews. Ensure new hires are effectively onboarded and integrated into the team with a strong foundation for long-term success.
  • Workforce Management: Monitor team capacity and case distribution to support sustainable workloads and efficient case progression. Partner with the Legal Ops function and other teams to identify resourcing needs and adjust staffing strategies as needed. Encourage a culture that values balance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Support & Issue Management: Serve as the primary escalation point for legal and operational questions impacting case flow. Work closely with cross-functional partners to troubleshoot barriers, minimize delays, and resolve challenges in a way that supports both attorney performance and client satisfaction.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the Operations Counsel team and other departments (including Client Counsel, Legal Ops, and Product) to ensure cohesive service delivery and alignment across the broader organization. Share insights from the team to help shape process improvements and inform operational decisions.
  • Process Enablement & Workflow Alignment: Support the adoption of consistent processes and workflows by working with Legal Ops and other leaders to align on expectations and remove friction points in day-to-day execution. Focus on enabling effective work habits rather than setting technical legal standards.
  • Data-Driven Management: Leverage performance metrics, partner and client feedback, and internal data to identify trends, training needs, and operational improvements. Use insights to support team development and inform scalable, long-term solutions that enhance quality and efficiency.

About You

Seasoned immigration professional with strong leadership experience and a passion for developing high-performing teams. The ideal candidate brings deep subject matter expertise across a range of immigration matters, combined with operational agility, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. This role requires someone who can manage people and processes effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment—balancing team development, client service, and workflow efficiency.

  • 10+ years of immigration law experience, covering both nonimmigrant (NIV) and immigrant (IV) matters across various government agencies, including consular processing.
  • 5+ years of experience managing direct reports, including conducting performance reviews, providing regular feedback, and supporting long-term career development.
  • Proven ability to oversee high case volumes and effectively manage workloads under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Strong technological fluency, with demonstrated comfort adopting new tools and platforms. Eagerness to leverage technology to streamline legal service delivery, improve workflows, and scale operations efficiently.
  • Proven team management skills, with a track record of adapting to shifting priorities and dynamic environments.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering across teams to align goals, improve processes, and drive shared outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills – capable of giving clear guidance, setting expectations, and maintaining professionalism across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and remain effective in fast-changing, high-growth environments.
  • A process-oriented and analytical mindset, with the ability to identify operational pain points and contribute to scalable solutions.
  • Strong client-focused approach, with a deep understanding of the importance of client experience, relationship management, and retention, balanced with maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership over maintaining quality standards and ensuring consistency across deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining clarity, focus, and timely execution.
