DeFi Data and Vault Operations Associate

Join our asset management team as a foundational member supporting the management of our expanding range of DeFi investment strategies. This role combines on-chain portfolio operations, smart contract analysis, and data engineering at the frontier of DeFi asset management.

As a DeFi Data and Vault Operations Associate, you'll take ownership of the backend requirements for daily vault operations, including related infrastructure, data pipelines, building smart contract roles & permissions, and contributing to due diligence on emerging protocols. This position offers exceptional growth potential and the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the rapidly evolving area of DeFi asset management infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Data Strategy, Infrastructure & Analysis 

• Develop data strategy and infrastructure across the business
• Manage data pipeline for Avantgarde’s on-going data requirements, including vault NAV & performance, fee calculations, and AuM monitoring
• Build processes for any idiosyncratic on-going data requirements for on-chain mandates (NAV & performance data, custom oracles)
• Liaise across the business to ascertain data requirements and become the owner of all data sources and their integrity for the business 

DeFi Vault Operations 

• Contribute to end to end vault set up, liaising with clients, the Business Development team and Trade Ops to fully onboard new clients
• Work with Business Development and Trade Ops to manage client flows and other client needs relating to vault operations
• Become a domain expert in developing and maintaining Zodiac roles modifiers on Safe multisig wallets, including adding new protocol coverage, creating templates, and liaising with internal teams to ensure changes & updates are implemented across relevant mandates
• Assist with programmatic vault interactions and designing vault automation
• Input into monitoring processes for curation mandates

Research 

• Due diligence of on-chain vault infrastructure solutions and technical requirements  from a vault curator’s perspective
• Contribute to vault research using on-chain data and analysis of vault activity
• Monitor emerging vault curation opportunities across the DeFi landscape

Automation 

• Ability to build efficient process leveraging automation where appropriate e.g. python and AI 
• Contribute to vault automations and programmatic interactions at a smart contract level
• Develop tooling to create solutions to streamline operations and reduce manual overhead

Work in partnership with Trade Operations

• Build strong relationships with Trade Ops 
• Contribute to reporting requirements across the business
• Contribute to Dune dashboard creation with Trade Ops
• Engage in code reviews across asset management and Trade Ops

Experience 

Required skills and competencies 

• Defi expertise: Deep enthusiasm for DeFi and an understanding of the blockchain economy
• Vault operations: Hands-on experience with vault set up and management on EVM chains
• On-chain data: Proficiency with sub-graphs, on-chain function calls and Dune
• API literate: Experience working with RESTful APIs and GraphQL to access, retrieve, and update data
• Data analysis: Strong analytical skills with practical application 
• Programming: demonstrated experience in programming for data analysis, including Python and SQL  

Preferred skills and competencies 

• Experience with Zodiac roles modifiers a strong plus
• Familiarity with executing on-chain transactions a plus
• Experience with on-chain oracles a plus
• Experience with AWS a plus
• Experience beyond EVM chains a plus

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field 
• 5+ years experience in a data analytics or related role
• Practical experience with smart contracts and EVM
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
