Job Description:

The Association for Talent Development (ATD) is the premiere membership organization for those dedicated to the learning and talent development industry. As the Associate Director, Brand at ATD, you will report to the Senior Director, Marketing & Digital Strategy and will lead the development and execution of creative, innovative, and results-driven strategies that position the ATD brand effectively. This role will be instrumental in driving brand awareness, engagement, and revenue growth by leveraging various omni-channel marketing and communication tactics. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of brand management, and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver impactful brand and marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement brand strategies that align with company objectives and its strategic audiences across all internal and external channels.
  • Design and oversee storytelling-driven brand campaigns to increase brand awareness and market presence.
  • Monitor emerging trends in the Learning & Development (L&D) space and translate insights into relevant brand messaging and go-to-market strategies.
  • Monitor brand performance and adjust strategies based on market trends, analytics, and customer feedback.
  • Partner with colleagues across the marketing team to lead proactive media outreach and press strategy for key events, initiatives, and research.
  • Manage inbound media requests and coordinate responses using ATD’s research, publications, and subject matter experts (internal and external).
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all channels, platforms, and social media.
  • Strategically use social media and visually-driven campaigns to strengthen brand presence and engage target audiences.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to craft compelling brand narratives and produce engaging marketing materials.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to produce brand assets and content.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with influencers and brand ambassadors to expand reach and amplify brand messaging.
  • Analyze analytics and customer insights, market trends, and performance data to inform brand decisions and identify opportunities.
  • Leverage earned media listening tools (e.g., Cision and Sprout Social) to track conversations, spot trends, monitor brand mentions, and surface actionable insights.
  • Partner with membership, product, sales, content, global, and digital teams to align brand strategy with business initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in brand management, marketing communications, or corporate communications, preferably in a mission-driven or association environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and messaging skills with a strong grasp of voice, tone, and audience adaptation.
  • Experience leading cross-functional campaigns across digital, video, and live event channels.
  • Proven success managing media relations, content development, and internal stakeholder alignment.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Cision, Sprout Social, and analytics dashboards.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to zoom out on brand vision while managing day-to-day execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

  • The Association for Talent Development is a hybrid organization headquartered in Alexandria, VA. Please note this is a hybrid position. In office time is required.
