Arkansas Foodbank is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a strong background in human resources to join our leadership team.


The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading financial planning, ensuring long-term fiscal sustainability, and overseeing risk management and operational efficiency. This role also plays a vital part in fostering a high-performing, compliant, and engaged workplace culture.


The CFO also serves as a vital bridge between human resources and executive leadership, ensuring that people strategies are fully integrated into organizational decision-making. As the key advocate for HR, the CFO brings strong representation of workforce needs, compliance, and culture to the leadership table, aligning human capital with financial and operational goals. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Evaluate, develop, and implement all financial functions and related administrative processes for the Arkansas Foodbank, ensuring accurate, adequate, and timely financial information is prepared and maintained for the Board of Directors, internal management, and third parties.
  • Ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization while fostering a productive and engaging workplace culture.
  • Design, implement, evaluate, and adjust internal controls over financial processes, maintaining high accountability and adherence to prescribed procedures, especially in managing federally funded programs.
  • Attend meetings of the Board of Directors and its committees as requested, serving as the staff representative to the finance and investment committees.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical assistance to staff and volunteers in bookkeeping, accounting, office procedures, and budgeting; coordinate with the CEO and relevant staff to prepare the annual budget proposal and educate department managers on financial matters impacting their budgets.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings.
  • Establish and oversee administrative purchasing procedures and Foodbank purchasing functions.
  • Review, evaluate, and administer the Foodbank’s business insurance needs.
  • Maintain records of rental and lease agreements for properties and equipment.
  • Participate as a member of the management team by attending meetings, supporting other areas as needed, and contributing to organizational planning, development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment.
  • Represent the Foodbank at community and Feeding America meetings and stay informed on current events and issues affecting Foodbank programs.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resource staff to ensure successful talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and overall people strategy for the Arkansas Foodbank.
  • Partner with HR to promote a high-performing, compliant, and inclusive workplace culture. 
  • Support budgeting for compensation, benefits, and HR initiatives.  
  •  Maintain a working knowledge of basic HR laws and compliance requirements (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO).

This job operates in a professional office environment. The employee may regularly be exposed to wet or humid conditions, extreme cold or heat, and general outside weather conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift/move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. May be required to operate vehicles.

Requirements

Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval.

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business accounting.
  • Professional certification - Certified Public Accounting required.
  • Strong understanding of human resources functions and employment law, with the ability to integrate people strategy into organizational planning and leadership.
  • Proven ability to support and oversee HR operations, ensuring compliance, workforce development, and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience required
  • Proficient with computer operations including Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license and proof of insurance required
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
