Mechanical Engineer

AlphaHire is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Designer on behalf of an established Ohio-based consulting firm specializing in mechanical and electrical engineering. With offices in both North and Central Ohio, this firm has delivered award-winning commercial and industrial design solutions for over 30 years.

This full-time opportunity is ideal for candidates with at least 3 years of experience in mechanical systems design. The role begins as a hands-on mechanical engineer/designer, with a clear advancement path to project manager or project engineer for those who demonstrate leadership and technical growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial facilities

• Perform load calculations, air and piping distribution sizing, and equipment selection

• Prepare system schematics and mechanical design layouts in accordance with project goals

• Conduct field investigations and site observations during design and construction phases

• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver fully coordinated design packages

• Ensure compliance with mechanical codes, standards, and specifications

• Communicate regularly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to drive project success

• Assist in the preparation of general and project-specific mechanical specifications

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical design experience (HVAC and plumbing systems)

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit is a plus

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

• Understanding of mechanical system components, materials, and design methodologies

• Solid math and analytical problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
