As Sr. Counsel, you will be responsible for advising a variety of business units within the company on competition-related matters, including in the context of acquisitions and regulatory matters, as well as supporting a diverse range of investigations and litigation matters. You will also provide general and competition-specific legal advice on a day-to-day basis to the Visa business. This role will report into Visa’s Global Litigation & Competition team.
Essential Functions
Providing legal advice to business functions on a wide variety of legal issues arising from business-as-usual activities, with a specific focus on antitrust and competition advice
Developing strategies, procedures and processes in partnership with business units to mitigate antitrust and other legal risk
Managing outside counsel
Assisting with litigation matters, including reviewing and approving pleadings and motions, and attending court hearings and depositions
Assisting with discovery-related activities, including collection and production of documents, to ensure coordination across multiple matters
Keeping Visa management and business units apprised of developments and strategy related to ongoing investigations or litigation, particularly with respect to antitrust & competition issues
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Basic Qualifications
• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Admitted to practice law in the United States and in good standing
• Preferred years’ experience: 10-12 years full-time employment in top-tier law firm or in-house environment
• Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become
barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.
• Strong experience advising and counseling a business on complex antitrust and competitions matters, including in the context of litigation and regulatory investigations
• Familiarity with all phases of litigation and e-discovery preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and writing skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills and strategic focus
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong working relationships at all levels of management and across business functions
• Able to perform both independently and in a team environment
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $216,000.00 to $281,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
