Staff Data Engineer
Skills
- Minimum 7 years of data engineering experience with strong passion for data and analytics.
- Proficient in building and optimizing data pipelines using Trino, Spark, dbt, and related tools.
- Experience managing data infrastructure on public cloud platforms, especially AWS.
- Skilled in orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Dagster.
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and other AI design patterns.
- Fluent in SQL and experienced in API integration development.
- Proficient in Java, Python, or Scala programming languages.
- Knowledgeable in modern data lake modeling techniques.
- Familiar with AWS services including EMR, EC2, S3, IAM and preferably multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with configuration and infrastructure as code tools like Pulumi, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Strong software engineering standards including code quality and automated testing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage a high-quality data lake supporting various business functions including product management, finance, customer support, and engineering.
- Innovate data management solutions using Trino and Starburst platforms.
- Collaborate with technical leads, product managers, and data analysts to build robust data products and analytics.
- Leverage AI to democratize dataset access throughout the organization.
- Prepare datasets and support model evaluation for AI projects.
- Define and improve data engineering processes and best practices focusing on execution and reliable business insights.
- Work cross-functionally with leaders to iterate on data architecture and solution designs.
- Develop innovative data management approaches and assist product teams in market delivery.
Education
- Formal education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields is preferred.
