Summary


Smarsh is seeking a seasoned Creative Consultant to lead the strategic evolution of our brand’s visual identity and digital presence. This is a 5-month contract engagement focused on delivering high-impact creative direction across marketing channels including web, digital, events, social, video, and user experiences.


As a consultant, you will partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to define and execute a scalable, modern visual system that enhances brand consistency and elevates customer engagement. Your work will directly support Smarsh’s positioning as a market leader in the tech and compliance space. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications & Brand, you will work with a small team of global designers and creative agencies to ensure that all visual elements align with Smarsh’s brand and message.

Engagement Objectives
  • Define and drive the creative vision for Smarsh’s brand across digital and experiential platforms.
  • Deliver a modular design system that improves production efficiency and visual consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and agency partners to produce high-quality creative assets aligned with business goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance on visual storytelling, branding, and user experience.
  • Ensure all creative outputs reflect Smarsh’s brand values, tone, and innovation.


Key Deliverables
  • A scalable, documented design system for use across Smarsh business units.
  • Creative direction and asset development for key marketing campaigns.
  • Visual guidelines for digital, social, and event-based content.
  • Recommendations for optimizing creative workflows and agency collaboration.


Consulting Scope
  • Partner with the VP of Communications & Brand and a global team of designers.
  • Advise on best practices in digital design, branding, and UX/UI.
  • Review and approve creative assets to ensure alignment with brand strategy.
  • Provide mentorship and feedback to internal design resources as needed.
  • Ensure consistency in branding, typography, color schemes, and overall aesthetic.
  • Guide and mentor designers and creative agencies.
  • Be a strong partner with our content team; work closely with copywriters to ensure visuals and messaging are cohesive.
  • Balance and deliver against the marketing needs of all three Smarsh business units (enterprise, corporate, and public sector) by presenting design concepts and creative strategies and bringing them to life.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and business acumen; stay updated on industry trends, design techniques, and emerging technologies.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Review and approve designs, artwork, photography, and graphics before production.


Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an Art Director or in a senior design role, preferably in the tech industry. 10+ years of experience in art direction, visual design, or creative leadership roles.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing digital design, branding, and UX/UI projects.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Canva, and motion design tools.
  • Experience working on SaaS, software, AI, or tech-related projects is a plus.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles, web design, and front-end development concepts.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills with experience guiding creative teams.
  • Experience managing the work of the internal team as well as external agencies.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% internationally, as required.
  • Ability to balance creativity with business objectives and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, global environments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of design systems, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with 3D design, AR/VR, or interactive media.
