Video Director

The Challenge to Solve

Create inspirational video content that showcases the people behind independent pizzerias, highlights Slice’s products and service, and integrates into broader efforts to grow the brand. 

The Role

The stories of independent pizzeria owners are ones of inspiration, perseverance, and sheer will. The Video Director will help shine a spotlight on them as we look to build awareness of entrepreneurship in the pizza industry and Slice’s mission to keep local pizza thriving. Through short and longform video, this role will build and lead an in-house production team (local and remote) that will work closely with the broader Marketing Team on creating effective, integrated campaigns. The ideal candidate has the experience and skill set to execute large- and small-scale productions alike, produce content from episodic documentaries to product videos,  and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. This role will report to the VP, Head of Creative.

You’ll drive impact through responsibilities like:

  • Build and lead an in-house production team, including producers, editors, and motion designers — supplemented with freelance support as needed
  • Own the end-to-end video production process—from concept and scripting to shoot and post
  • Direct high-impact productions, primarily on-location shoots at customer locations
  • Manage production timelines and budgets
  • Raise the bar for production quality and visual storytelling across all channels
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners, including executives, to create impactful content enabled by key business initiatives (e.g., opening new pizzerias)
  • Partner with Content and Marketing leadership to define an annual content calendar tied to brand moments and strategic initiatives
  • Work closely with Creative team to ensure consistency of brand, including graphics and tone of voice
  • Develop paid and organic video content that drives awareness, engagement, and conversions
  • Stay ahead of platform trends, new formats, and tools that can improve our storytelling

The Winning Recipe 

You bring a mix of creative leadership, hands-on execution, and a deep understanding of storytelling and the needs of small businesses.

  • 8+ years of experience in video production, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Strong portfolio showcasing documentary-style, branded, and promotional work
  • Proven ability to ideate, direct, and edit compelling visual stories
  • Deep understanding of lighting, camera operation, and interview technique
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects, Resolve)
  • Experience managing production crews, post workflows, and vendor relationships
  • Comfortable directing on set and adapting quickly to on-location constraints
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to travel as needed for shoots

Salary Range: $140-200k + benefits 

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

The Hiring Process

Here’s what we expect the hiring process for this role to be, should all go well with your candidacy. This entire process is expected to take 2-4 weeks to complete and you’d be expected to start on a specific date.
