Job Title: Climate Justice Mobilization Intern
Department: North Star Chapter
Location: Twin Cities, MN
Report to: Deputy Director
Duration: about 10 hrs/week for at least 8 weeks from July through August (flexible schedule or extension is possible). Primary work hours are evening and weekend.
Context: At the Sierra Club, we believe in the power of togetherness. Together, we remain committed to the fight for a healthy climate built on a foundation of environmental, racial, economic, and gender justice – a future where all people benefit from a healthy, thriving planet and a direct connection to nature. As the climate crisis and deeply entrenched systemic racism all fuel inequity, we will continue to fight for a bold, transformational agenda that recognizes the interconnectedness between our planet, our humanity, and our democracy.
Sierra Club is comprised of staff across the country and a network of volunteer leaders and local chapters that support our grassroots engagement. The North Star Chapter is the local Minnesota chapter of the Sierra Club, which is a staff team of 7 people, supporting a powerful volunteer base of 100s, and uplifting the voices of our 50,000 supporters across the state.
Scope: Movement building is a key part of how we will win the climate movement. We are looking for a Climate Justice Mobilization Intern to help us connect with people, especially at protest events such as the recent “No Kings” rally. This position will work directly with our staff and volunteer teams and include assisting in petition collection, public outreach, public education, organizing efforts, outdoor events, and data entry. Our office is in Saint Paul and interns should expect to work some in the office, but primarily work hours will be spent at community events in the evenings and weekends. Flexible schedule available to fit other work or school needs.
Interns will leave with skills in community outreach, working in a staff and volunteer team, data entry, and knowledge of grassroots movement building techniques.
To Apply
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Apply by June 23, 2025 for priority consideration. The position will remain open until filled.
