About the Team

The Data Center Services – Operations Engineering (DCS-OE) team exists to operationalize tooling, data insights, and systems that enable global data center performance, forecasting, and technical documentation at scale. This team supports ServiceNow’s physical infrastructure by ensuring reliable systems, actionable telemetry, and well-governed knowledge management.

DCS-OE is part of the Global Cloud Services organization, which supports the data center operations of the Unified Technology Group (UTG) and Success, Technology, Experience, and Platform (STEP) organizations.

Job Description

ServiceNow’s DCS-OE team is looking for a Staff Infrastructure Data & Systems Engineer who will design, build, and maintain internal systems, forecasting models, and knowledge documentation to drive operational excellence in our global data centers.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Assist in the creation and administration of internal tooling and dashboards for power monitoring, capacity planning, infrastructure telemetry, and network forecasting.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis on infrastructure utilization, performance metrics, and power/cooling trends to support capital and operational decision-making.
  • Own and improve systems that ingest and process operational data from multiple global sources (network, power, space, deployments).
  • Work with the team to document DCS-OE standards, operational workflows, and system procedures to serve as internal knowledge sources for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Serve as the team’s go-to SME on infrastructure data reporting and modeling using ServiceNow, SQL, Excel (advanced), and visualization platforms like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Develop capacity and performance models, partnering with infrastructure engineering and vendor teams to validate forecasting assumptions.
  • Work with ServiceNow platform engineers to tie operational data into CMDB objects and automate reporting within ServiceNow.
  • Standardize engineering documentation formats and establish version-controlled knowledge libraries using SharePoint or internal portals.
  • Act as a technical systems administrator for key tools used in DCS-OE, including monitoring platforms and internal documentation tools.
  • Translate complex data into clear and actionable insights for senior leaders and global stakeholders.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience in network engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure capacity planning roles.
  • Expert-level Excel skills including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and VBA macros.
  • Strong SQL proficiency with the ability to query and manipulate large datasets for infrastructure analysis.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, and Grafana.
  • Deep experience with documentation systems such as SharePoint and technical writing of internal procedures and design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure and capacity planning principles in cloud or large enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting or maintaining Linux based systems.
  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with executives and technical teams alike.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and workflow tools.
  • System administration training or certifications (Solaris, Linux, shell scripting) a plus.
  • High attention to detail and a process-driven mindset.
