Job Summary:

The Education Department at Regis College invites applications for an affiliate position in-person beginning August 15, 2025. The area of specialization is reading specialist with experience in teaching the Science of Reading. This course will meet T/TH from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. The department is seeking a versatile teacher who will contribute to the department’s mission to help students develop the skills necessary to teach in diverse classrooms, work for equality and dignity, particularly for historically marginalized communities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Affiliate faculty are required to meet in-person with the class twice per week for 75 minutes and hold 1 hour of office hours per week. Faculty will have a syllabus given to them but must participate in designing their own course activities in consultation with the chair of the department. The successful candidate must be able to teach an upper-level Elementary Reading and Writing course, ED 403A. Faculty are expected to submit midterm and final grades for all students and to connect regularly with the department chair regarding course progress.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Earned M.A. in education or related field

  • Demonstrated understanding of current literacy trends, challenges, and legislation, particularly in regard to the Science of Reading, Structured Literacy, and reading difficulties.

  • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience at the K-8 level in public schools.

  • Experience teaching culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.

  • Experience with and understanding of state and national standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful teaching experience in higher education.

  • Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning.

Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 – 10:45 + 1 hour per week for office hours

These positions are benefits-eligible for workers’ compensation and will receive 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
