We envision a world where novel drugs and therapies reach patients in months, not years, accelerating breakthroughs that save lives.
Mithrl is building the world’s first commercially available AI Co-Scientist—a discovery engine that empowers life science teams to go from messy biological data to novel insights in minutes. Scientists ask questions in natural language, and Mithrl answers with real analysis, novel targets, and patent-ready reports. No coding. No waiting. No bioinformatics bottlenecks.
We’re the fastest-growing tech-bio startup in the Bay Area, with 12X YoY revenue growth and customers across three continents, from small biotechs to top-5 pharma. Our product is working, our customers are winning, and the story is just beginning.
We’ve gone from zero to revenue with a product scientists use daily. Now we’re building the next phase—and we need a product leader who understands life science, software, and speed.
As the Founding Product Manager, you’ll own core product decisions, shape the roadmap, and translate high-context biotech needs into elegant product experiences. You’ll work closely with customers, engineers, scientists, and the founding team to move fast and solve real discovery problems at the frontlines of biology.
This is not a learning role. We’re looking for someone with a verifiable track record of shipping successful software products, ideally in fast-paced, zero-to-one or one-to-ten environments.
Own the product roadmap and prioritize ruthlessly based on impact, urgency, and insight
Interview customers, prototype ideas, and ship fast
Collaborate with engineers and scientists to define how the product works under the hood
Turn vague goals into actionable tickets and end-to-end product experiences
Define and track product metrics that matter (not vanity metrics)
Translate complex scientific workflows into intuitive software
Represent the voice of the scientist in every product decision
Build the foundation for Mithrl’s product culture and eventually a product team
7+ years of product management experience with a proven, verifiable track record of shipping successful software products
Background in life sciences—you’ve either worked as a scientist or worked deeply within scientific domains
Experience building software products only (not instruments, wet-lab hardware, or diagnostic equipment)
Strong technical intuition. You can engage meaningfully with engineers and bench scientists
Clarity of thought and communication: you make complexity simple
Experience navigating ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
Evidence of high ownership, high agency, and customer obsession
You’ve built something scientists or technical users actually used, and you can prove it
**Curiosity, persistence, and a drive to understand how things work
**High energy, strong work ethic, and a track record of getting things done
**Discipline Wins: At Mithrl, the social currency is hard work and consistency. The problems we’re solving are complex and take time to bear fruit. We value teammates who show up every day, work with focus, and bring long-term discipline to their craft
Ownership: You’ll drive the product, from roadmap to execution
Impact: Your work will directly influence drug discovery decisions at top biotech and pharma companies
Speed: Fast decisions, fast launches, real feedback
Team: Join a world-class crew of AI scientists, engineers, and biologists working together at full speed
Culture: Low ego, high conviction with a team that is kind. Just deep thinking, fast execution, and high ownership
Location: Beautiful SF office with a focus on in-person, high-bandwidth collaboration
Benefits: Comprehensive PPO health coverage through Anthem (medical, dental, and vision) + 401(k) with top-tier plans
Send us a short note describing a product you’ve built, how it performed, and what you learned. Bonus points if you include a screenshot, spec, or customer quote that shows your impact.
Application tip: In the depths of Moria, Mithrl was guarded by a terrible foe. In your application, include the name of the Balrog Gandalf faced.
