Career Coach and Talent Development Lead

Description

About Minerva University

Minerva University is redefining higher education for the 21st century. Founded on the belief that access to extraordinary learning experiences should not be bound by geography or privilege, Minerva offers a globally immersive, interdisciplinary education that prepares students to be leaders, innovators, and global citizens.

With students from over 100 countries and a curriculum rooted in the science of learning, Minerva combines rigorous academics with experiential learning in cities around the world. Classes are taught using a proprietary active learning platform, enabling small, fully engaged seminars designed to maximize critical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration.

Minerva’s commitment to access, equity, and global impact positions it as one of the most forward-thinking institutions in the world. As a nonprofit, accredited university, Minerva seeks supporters who share its vision of a more connected, informed, and capable global society.

About Coaching & Talent Development and the Role

The Coaching & Talent Development (CTD) team supports Minerva's mission by empowering Minerva students to create and pursue meaningful lives and careers by exploring, identifying, testing, and developing the skills and characteristics that will support them to thrive personally and professionally. Our programs and services encourage students to develop mindsets & behaviors that enable success in the short and long term; understand and articulate their values, interests, and strengths; identify market realities and needs in the world and engage authentically with others to further their professional development in a global, ever-changing context.

Minerva is looking to hire a student-centered, results-driven, and experienced Career Coach who aims to help young people grow personally and professionally and achieve their desired career outcomes. In this role, you will guide students through the appropriate mix of 1-1 coaching and group workshops, leveraging your skills in coaching, rapport-building, workshop design and facilitation.

As a Coach, you will work with a portfolio of students who will be geographically distributed across multiple cities throughout their four years. This model will allow you to develop and maintain relationships with students over time, helping them to navigate transitions and draw connections as they engage in diverse academic and professional experiences around the world. As a result in a significant amount of your work with students will occur virtually, through either Zoom or Forum, our proprietary video platform.

As a Talent Development Lead, you will have the opportunity to shape a new approach to how universities prepare students for the Future of Work, while engaging with an intellectually diverse, mission driven group of students who come to Minerva from around the world (more than 100 countries are represented in our undergraduate population).

Given Minerva’s geographically distributed model, this means you will work on a small team of remote Coaches and Career Success experts with students across multiple time zones. As a result, a significant amount of your work with students will occur virtually.

Location and Travel: Although we are open to candidates based anywhere in the world, we have a preference for those based in Buenos Aires, which is one of our rotation cities. This role will require occasional evening and weekend work, and may require international travel, once during the academic year.

Focus Areas: While we believe coaching does not require domain expertise (e.g., academic discipline, industry or job function), we are looking for a coach who has experience, expertise, or strong interest in working with students pursuing careers in the Arts & Humanities, Natural Sciences, and/or Social Sciences. Many of these students aim to start their careers in research, nonprofits, government agencies, the arts, and/or social enterprises.
