In this exciting role as a Post Market Quality Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the Aortic Post Market Product Assurance and Quality Sustaining team based in Santa Rosa, CA for all commercial Aortic products for our Structural Heart and Aortic business.

This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

​​In general, the following responsibilities apply but is not limited to the following:

  • Manages a team of Reliability Engineers that are responsible for monitoring product performance, complaint investigations, and evaluating quality issues impacting released product
  • Manage a team responsible for all Design Assurance activities supporting changes to commercial products.
  • Coach team members through technical problem solving including CAPA investigations and triaging issues. 
  • Provide technical knowledge and input into risk assessments when quality issues are being evaluated.
  • Provide front room support during inspections from regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, FDB, Notified Body).
  • Manage performance and develop talent to support a high performing team and culture.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate with internal cross-functional employees, internal leaders at all levels and external customers in the pursuit of product quality improvements and post-market risk management.
  • Create strategic plans for driving efficiencies, improving competencies, and developing people to continuously improve function.
  • Provide oversight and expertise in design change control and risk management activities.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience OR advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Bio-medical engineering degree
  • Prior experience in or demonstrated strong working knowledge of global medical device regulations and requirements.
  • Experience dealing directly with U.S. FDA and/or other medical product competent authorities/regulatory authorities.
  • Engineering experience with medical devices, specifically disposable devices.
  • Thorough working knowledge of medical device industry product risk management regulations and standards
  • Understanding of heart anatomy and human/blood physiology
  • Demonstrated Aortic product application knowledge
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening (with all levels of the organization). Strong interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional and cross-regional teams in a matrixed org. developing collaborative relationships.
  • Identifies and resolves issues in a proactive, creative, and timely fashion.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.  Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$157,600.00 - $236,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
