Staff Engineer - DS/ML
Skills
- 6+ years backend engineering focusing on data-intensive applications
- Experience designing backend systems in multi-tenant and configuration-rich environments
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java backend development
- Experience with distributed systems, streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar), and batch orchestration (Airflow, Dagster)
- Strong knowledge of modern data architectures including lakes, lakehouses, or warehouses
- Familiarity with cloud-native warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and storage solutions (S3, GCS)
- Understanding schema management, versioning, metadata systems, and governance
- Performance tuning, concurrency, and reliability in backend services
- Comfort with stochastic and causal reasoning frameworks and their system implications
Responsibilities
- Architect multi-tenant data infrastructure with tenant isolation and configurable ingestion pipelines
- Build backend systems enabling probabilistic and attribution-driven machine learning models
- Ensure data integrity, lineage, and auditability across complex tenant configurations
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for data ingestion, pipelines, and metadata management
- Support both real-time streaming and batch processing paradigms
- Collaborate on next-generation data platform architecture balancing flexibility, performance, and cost
- Implement observability, SLAs, and fault tolerance for critical data workflows
- Partner with ML and analytics teams to power behavioral modeling and analytics products
- Build APIs, microservices, and orchestration layers exposing data pipelines as infrastructure
- Drive technical excellence through design reviews, code quality, documentation, and mentorship
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline (required)
- Advanced degree preferred
