Frontend - Founding Engineer

About Us We're a venture-backed startup building an innovative AI-driven platform called Proxi for policy professionals. Our product helps users navigate complex regulatory, legislative and emerging compliance environments through a voice-driven interface powered by our cutting-edge semantic search pipeline operating over our immense legislative and regulatory data corpus. Our team's experience spans roles across the White House, State Department, K&S Law, Microsoft and Datadog.

The Role You'll join our founding engineering team to craft exceptional user experiences that make our AI feel like a natural extension of the user. With our frontend foundation already in place, you'll refine our voice-driven interface, implement human-centered design principles, and create intuitive interactions that make complex policy information accessible and actionable.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement natural, conversational voice interactions that feel human and intuitive

• Create user interfaces that elegantly blend voice and visual elements for seamless experiences

• Optimize voice agent responsiveness, personality, and conversation flow

• Craft thoughtful UI components that enhance user productivity and reduce cognitive load

• Implement user-centric design patterns for complex information visualization

• Build responsive data visualizations that make policy networks and relationships understandable

• Create adaptive interfaces that learn from user behavior and personalize over time

• Collaborate with UX researchers and product designers to implement user feedback

Requirements

• Strong expertise in React and modern frontend architecture

• Advanced JavaScript (ES6+) skills, with TypeScript experience preferred

• Demonstrated experience designing voice-first or conversational interfaces

• Deep understanding of human-centered design principles and accessibility

• Experience creating intuitive user flows for complex information systems

• Knowledge of browser audio APIs and voice interface implementation

• Strong visual design sensibilities and attention to detail

• Experience with rich text editors and document collaboration

• Proficiency with modern CSS and component frameworks

• Background in designing data visualizations that simplify complex information

Nice to Have

• Experience designing for AI agents or assistants

• Background in voice personality design or conversation flow mapping

• Knowledge of web-based audio and speech recognition technologies

• History of working with legislative, legal, or policy data visualization

• Experience implementing micro interactions and subtle UX enhancements

• Background in design systems implementation

• UX/UI design background or formal design education
