  • Ability to identify organizational needs, establish priorities, work independently, drive results through informal authority, serve as a trusted consultant to key business partners, and represent users and customers.

About the job:

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

In this role, you will help deliver a variety of programs in the area of data center software. You will be responsible for the development of software to support new Google-designed hardware products, including software for planning the deployment of the new hardware to data centers, monitoring the hardware, detecting and diagnosing failures in the hardware, and scheduling repairs.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for release schedules and milestones, keeping up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prioritize program goals, understand and translate other stakeholders’ needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables, and contribute to decisions on prioritizing goals and deliverables.
  • Identify, communicate, and collaborate with stakeholders within one or more teams to drive impact and work toward mutual goals.
  • Lead technical programs for the Google Cloud Business, managing associated financial and human resources, quality of software development and features, risks, schedules, communication plans, and deliverables.
  • Initiate new software development programs, identify and deliver software features that drive performance, scale, functionality, security, quality, and efficiency, based on prioritized needs.
