Data Analyst & Report Writer

Job Summary:

Provide analytical and report-writing support to Pricing department management through the development of report metrics, outcome attainment results, and recommendations in a Microsoft Access and Excel intensive environment

  • Responsible for data analysis and reporting on market analysis / business segmentation trending, outcome attainment, process management, financial and operational analysis. Emphasis on developing after-the-fact analysis and summaries
  • ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) data from different sources and systems, analyzing source system data to create regular and ad-hoc reports for end users.
  • Establish and implement reporting tools to create customer metrics and storyboards
  • Perform periodic reporting and present to management and other decision makers by creating management reports based on data interpretation, identifying specific trends or areas where key performance indicators are not achieved, drawing sound conclusions, and tracking corresponding improvement plans
  • Responsible for system process analysis, design, and simulation with a focus on process analysis and re-engineering with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.
  • Create, debug and modify Microsoft Excel and Access macros and programs.
  • Import and export client data records, cleansing and validating data sets within Excel and Access
  • Collaborate with application developers and test results.
  • Responsible for reviewing existing processes for areas of improvement
  • Responsible for collaborating with other internal departments to deliver effective content and measure results
  • Assist in the development of new training, structural and procedural documentation
  • Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications:

  • College degree in business administration/management, data analysis/computer science or course work in database management, information systems, or any combination of education and technical experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office products, primarily Access (query writing, debugging and modification, macros, data mining), Excel (data transformation), SQL Server (data storage and manipulation), and other related products.
  • Proficient in data storage, data mining, and basic statistical concepts
  • 1 or more years’ experience in the transportation industry
  • Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information.
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, analytical, and logical reasoning skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication and interpersonal skills to present market analysis and business segmentation data concepts to management, staff, and clients/vendors.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
  • Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to interact well with others
  • Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
  • Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
