About Us:
Eight Million Stories (8MS) transforms the lives of at-promise youth and young adults (ages 9–24) through education, employment, and personal development. We equip youth with the tools they need to thrive through holistic services and programming grounded in empowerment, equity, and impact.
This summer, in partnership with the Academy for Accelerated Learning, we are offering a dynamic STEM Camp for students in grades K–7. The camp will combine hands-on STEM learning with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster personal growth.
Position Overview:
We are seeking engaging, mission-aligned individuals to serve as classroom Instructors for our Summer STEM Camp. This is an ideal opportunity for current educators or college students who are passionate about working with youth and creating fun, enriching learning experiences rooted in STEM and SEL.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support
• Facilitate and support daily STEM activities and hands-on learning stations for elementary and middle school students.
• Lead or assist with age-appropriate SEL instruction and community-building exercises. • Create an inclusive, energetic, and student-centered classroom environment.
Mentorship & Youth Engagement
• Serve as a positive role model for students, building trust and encouraging curiosity and collaboration.
• Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and engagement.
Safety & Structure
• Ensure student safety and a structured environment during camp hours.
• Support attendance tracking, classroom routines, and behavior expectations.
Collaboration
• Work closely with fellow instructors, program staff, and site partners to ensure smooth day-to day operations.
• Contribute ideas and feedback to strengthen the camp experience for students.
Qualifications:
• Passion for working with youth and creating supportive, engaging learning spaces.
• Experience working with children or students in educational or enrichment settings.
• Interest in or background in STEM subjects and/or Social Emotional Learning.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Current educators, education majors, or college students are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Must pass a background check.
