About the Role
As an Associate Production Underwriter at CompScience, you will begin your underwriting career by learning to use our groundbreaking AI-powered tools to assist in evaluating and pricing workers' compensation insurance. Working under the guidance of senior underwriters, you will learn to apply underwriting guidelines and industry expertise to determine eligibility and appropriate pricing for prospective policyholders. This role will provide foundational experience in reviewing, analyzing, and quoting policies while supporting the team in managing agency relationships and resolving problems.
Responsibilities
Assist senior underwriters in preparing and developing premium quotations utilizing underwriting guidelines within an assigned letter of authority.
Learn to determine underwriting eligibility and develop appropriate pricing for new business and renewals with direct oversight.
Support the analysis and review of prospective accounts for insurability.
Help address agent and policyholder concerns and needs to foster positive and productive agency relationships.
Work with the underwriting team to support new business development, profitability, and retention of existing business in a given territory.
Make recommendations about loss sensitive options (e.g. large deductible)
Required Experience
Entry-level to two years of experience in an insurance organization with exposure to Workers' Compensation.
Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to learn and apply underwriting guidelines to evaluate risks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an eagerness to learn how to manage agency relationships.
Basic mathematical aptitude and the ability to learn how to calculate premium quotations.
A proactive and detail-oriented approach with a strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take corrective action when needed.

Compensation: CompScience is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000. Compensation is determined within the range based on your qualifications and experience. Our total compensation package also includes equity and comprehensive benefits.
