The staff member in this position will be responsible for:
- Supporting programs and projects administered by the Office of the Bronx Borough President, in the Division of Health & Human Services.
- Researching public health data, conducting events planning, implementation, and community outreach in coordination with the Director and Deputy Director of HHS.
- Engaging with community-based health organizations and New York City agencies as needed, to support communications with the BBP Office.
- Preparing reports, briefings, and memoranda for the HHS Director, other Directors, the Deputy Borough President, and the Borough President.
- Staff and attend external events, summits, forums and community discussions as assigned,
- Screening health related constituent cases routed to the HHS Director and communicating with the appropriate Agency for follow-up action as assigned by Director.
- Working with the Director and Deputy Director to develop outreach materials, including but not limited to the Health Newsletter.
- Administrative and clerical assignments.
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of current health disparities and social service issues.
- Working with other units, including Policy, Community Services, and Constituent Services, and Special Events as appropriate.
- Serve as project manager for healthy initiatives, inclusive of event production, management and execution.
- Supporting all other HHS division or OBBP projects as needed.
The Community Liaison for Health and Human Services reports to the Borough President’s HHS Director and may represent the Director at meetings with City agencies, inter- governmental staff, elected officials, community-based organizations, and community leaders.
The position will require flexible scheduling, including some nights and weekends.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
